The PowerBar V3 Infrared 850 nm is a high-power infrared light source with twelve ams OSRAM Oslon Black LEDs on a 286 mm aluminum circuit board. At 700 mA and 23.52 W, it emits 850 nm radiation in a 90° beam: invisible to the eye, but captured by standard surveillance and machine vision cameras. Together with the matching heat sink, optics and Mean Well drivers, it becomes a compact, powerful infrared illuminator.

Applications of the PowerBar V3 Infrared 850 nm LED Module
As a compact, high-power light source, the PowerBar V3 Infrared 850 nm is designed for the following main applications:
- Infrared illuminators for video surveillance: 850 nm radiation is invisible to the human eye but captured by standard CCTV and night vision cameras. With suitable optics, the module becomes a powerful infrared floodlight that illuminates buildings, perimeters and yards in total darkness. See our LED modules for floodlights.

- Machine vision and sensing: As a linear infrared light source, the PowerBar V3 is suited to line-scan and machine vision systems, light barriers, sorting and inspection equipment, where infrared light suppresses visible interference.
Build a Complete Luminaire with the PowerBar V3 System
The PowerBar V3 is more than an LED module: together with its matching heat sink, optics and drivers, it becomes a complete high-power luminaire that you can assemble to your requirements:
- Heat sink: the black aluminum PowerBar V3 heat sink (SKU 31631, 290 x 57.2 x 40 mm) is made to fit the module and dissipates its heat. The module is fixed with the optional mounting clips (SKU 32381) and a heat-conductive adhesive pad. See the PowerBar V3 heat sink with mounting clips and adhesive pad.
- Optics: LEDiL FLORENTINA rod lenses cover all 12 LEDs with a single part and are available with beam angles from 10° to 45°, completed by the FLORENTINA-SHD glare shield (SKU 30141) and the insert for the heat sink (SKU 32615). Alternatively, individual lenses such as LEDiL TINA3, HEIDI and STRADA or Carclo optics can be fitted using the mounting holes on the board. See our optics for white and color LEDs.

Installation and Operation
- Cooling: always operate the module on a heat sink, such as the PowerBar V3 heat sink, with a heat-conductive pad between board and heat sink, and make sure that the Tc point stays within the specified limits in the finished luminaire, especially at high drive currents. An NTC resistor on the board allows temperature monitoring via an external control unit.
- Connection: terminals on the first and last segment allow connection without soldering.
- Dividing: the module consists of 12 segments of 28.5 x 23.85 mm; if needed, it can be divided with a saw, and each segment can also be used individually.
- LED driver: operate the module with a constant current LED driver set to 700 mA; never connect it directly to a constant voltage supply. Several modules can be connected in series: the current stays the same and the voltages add up (33.6 V per module), so the output voltage range of the driver at the selected current must cover the sum.
- Infrared radiation: the 850 nm radiation is almost invisible, so the natural blink reflex does not protect the eyes. Do not look into the operating module at close range, and assess the photobiological safety of the finished device according to EN 62471.
- Handling: do not touch or press the LEDs, observe standard ESD precautions, and keep the module away from aggressive chemicals. The module is not waterproof; for humid or outdoor environments, install it in a closed, suitable luminaire housing.
- Safety: installation must comply with all applicable electrical and safety standards and should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
