The Nichia Power LED Module E21 4 x 4 is a compact, high-power light engine for street lights, high bay and area lighting. Its 16 Nichia E21A direct mountable chip LEDs are soldered directly on an aluminum-core (IMS) circuit board with a thermal resistance of only 0.9 K/W. Without a package between chip and board, heat is transferred very efficiently, so the module keeps its performance at high temperatures and allows smaller heat sinks and luminaire housings. At 1400 mA, one module delivers 7785 lm of neutral white 4000K light at about 68.8 W.
The 4 x 4 layout (120 x 120 mm) fits standard 50 x 50 mm lenses for four LEDs from manufacturers such as Ledil and Carclo, so the light distribution can be adapted to roads, halls, areas or floodlights. Wago 2060 board clamps allow a quick, solder-free connection, and built-in ESD and surge protection up to 4000 V makes the module robust in outdoor installations. For many street light projects, one module with a single 1400 mA constant current driver is sufficient. The module is made in Germany and backed by a 5-year warranty.

Installation and Operation
- Cooling: mount the module with thermal interface material on a heat sink or the luminaire body, using the screw holes, and size the heat sink for the module power and the ambient temperature of the luminaire.
- Optics: select lenses for the required light distribution and fix them in their positions over the LEDs.
- Connection: connect the wires with the Wago 2060 board clamps, without soldering.
- LED driver: operate the module with a constant current LED driver (1400 mA per module (about 49.1 V)) with short-circuit, overload and overtemperature protection; for several modules in series, the driver must cover the sum of the module voltages.
- Handling: do not touch or press the LEDs, observe standard ESD precautions and keep the module away from aggressive chemicals.
- Safety: installation must comply with all applicable electrical and safety standards and should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
