BackMatrix3080 Backlight Nichia LED modules (35.000 lm/sqm)

Professional BackMatrix-49 2080 & 3080 Nichia LED modules, up to 39,000 lm / square meter

BackMatrix 49 with Nichia LEDs
Nichia LED Surface Lighting Project

BackMatrix modules represent the optimal solution for backlighting in a uniform, economical and durable way.

The modules have up to 29 x 29 cm and can used to backlight huge areas due to their large size and easy installation without a soldering gun. With the use of high-performance Nichia LEDs you will benefit from a giant light flux of up to 39,000 lm / square meter with a minimum energy consumption. This performance, combined with a lifetime of more than 100,000 hours, makes BackMatrix the best choice for projects requiring bright light from LEDs installed behind a translucent material (plexiglas, stone, marble, barrisol).

BackMatrix can also be used as a single unit for showcase illumination or for building luminaires, the luminous flux of up to 2100 lm for a matrix being equivalent to a light bulb of more than 120W.

You can choose from four versions of BackMatrix the right one for your project:

  • BackMatrix-49-2080: Nichia T02 LEDs with 180 degree illumination, 28x28 cm, 1300 lm / unit or 16,600 lm / square meter
  • BackMatrix-49-2080 RGBW: Nichia 757 white 4000K m blue, red, green. 2390 lm / unit white (white), 28x28 cm
  • BackMatrix-49-2080 TW: Nichia T02 LEDs with 180 degree, white and warm white, adjustable to achieve any shade of white (2700-6500K), 28x28 cm, 1150 + 1250 lm / unit or 30,000 lm / square meter
  • BackMatrix-49-3080: LED Nichia 757, 29x29 cm, 3130/2180/1150 lm / unit (adjustable in increments) with max 39,000lm per sqm

Investing in these special products is a sure gain, the BackMatrix is covered by warranty is 5 years that can be extended to 7 years in some cases. Payback is fast due to lack of maintenance costs and very low energy consumption.

Applications for BackMatrix with Nichia LEDs:

  • Backlighting of translucent surfaces such as: barrisol stretch ceiling, plexiglas, stone, marble etc
  • Illuminated showcases
  • Construction of light bodies or LED panels
  • General lighting with a long service life in shops, offices, clinics, clinics or private homes

The Nichia LED quality

Nichia from Japan is the manufacturer of the LEDs used for BackMatrix modules, holds the largest market share of LED diodes worldwide (over 25%) and is the inventor of the production technology for the white and blue LEDs. For this achievement, Nichia researchers received the Nobel Prize for Physics.

The very long life of Nichia 757G LEDs (minimum 100,000 hours), high operating temperature resistance, much better light output and good light quality are just a few of the attributes that recommend this LED matrix for long-lasting use in - a wide range of applications.

We are a specialist of high performance LED light solutions. As part of the early success of LEDs we have extensive application knowledge from a wide range of sectors. Since 2010, we have developed and produced NICHIA LED strips in a state-of-the-art production facility in Germany. These strips have been used successfully in a wide range of application and developed specifically to meet customer specifications.

The difference between the quality and performance of a BackMatrix with Nichia LEDs and a low-budget, LED common module is evident from the first power on and in time the gap increases even more.

1) Bright-shining light for many years

After 10,000 hours of operation, a Nichia 757 or T02 LED keeps 97% of its initial shine. This translates into a lifetime of over 100,000 hours (more than a decade of continuous operation) in most application.

In contrast, an inexpensive LED loses up to 60% of the initial shine in less than 10,000 hours, that is, a year of continuous operation.

The light output for Nichia 757 or T02 LEDs is supported by 10,000-hour tests, according to the LM-80 standard, and lifetime (light at 80%) is calculated according to TM-21 methodology, both internationally recognized.

 2) The Nichia 757 or T02 LEDs in a batch have the same shade of white that they keep in time

On the BackMatrix matrix, all Nichia LEDs have the same color temperature (shade of white). In addition, all LED modules in one delivery have the same shade, which will also be maintained for a future order. This is possible due to the 3 Macadam Elipse sorting standard.

In addition, after many hours of operation, the Nichia LEDs have the same hue as at acquisition.

In contrast, on the cheap module, the LEDs may have more shades or the difference in shade between two deliveries can be significant. The reason is the lack of a post-production sorting standard (a price-increasing standard). Moreover, after just a few thousand hours, each cheap LED from the module changes its hue, different from the adjacent one.

A Nichia LED uses the 3 Step Macadam Elipse sorting standard and keeps the same color temperature in time

3) The Nichia LED is 5 times more energy efficient

Depending on the technology used, LEDs may have different light output for the same power consumption. The difference in light efficacy (lumens per watt) from one LED to another may be 500% and has a very high influence on the production price. The Nichia LEDs have the highest light efficacy in the world, of more than 200 lumens per watt compared to an inexpensive LED that has around 50 lumens per watt.

In other words, a BackMatrix with 49 LEDs is as bright as five meters of the 14.4W / m strip with 600 cheap 5050 LEDs. After 10,000 hours, the matrix will become as bright as ten meters of cheap LEDs, due to the degradation of the latter's luminous flux.
