The Violet UVC 265 nm is a 281 mm rigid UV-C LED strip with 12 Bolb S3535-H LEDs, delivering a radiant power of 1800 mW at 265 nm with 27 W of power consumption, a radiant efficiency of about 6.7%. As part of the Violet modular UV irradiation system, its LED pitch is matched to the LEDiL VIOLET-12X1 optics, so it can be configured for narrow, wide or oval beams and engineered for a defined UV dose in disinfection of air, surfaces and water.

Applications of the Violet UVC 265 nm LED Strip

Combined with VIOLET-12X1 optics, a housing and a suitable driver, the Violet UVC 265 nm is designed for the following main applications:

• Disinfection: UV-C radiation at 265 nm, close to the absorption maximum of DNA, is absorbed by the DNA and RNA of microorganisms and prevents their replication, which inactivates bacteria, viruses and molds. With Violet strips and VIOLET-12X1 optics, closed irradiation systems for air (in-duct and enclosed air purifiers), surfaces (conveyors, packaging, equipment and work areas) and water can be designed around a defined dose: irradiance on the target multiplied by exposure time. Violet Modular UV Irradiation System: 265 to 330 nm

The Violet UV irradiation platform is a modular system for building compact, precisely controlled UV light sources from 265 nm UV-C to 330 nm UV-A. At the heart of the system is our 281 mm Violet LED strip. Each board carries 12 UV LEDs positioned at a fixed pitch specifically matched to the LEDiL VIOLET-12X1 optics family. This allows the same LED platform to be configured with narrow, wide or oval beam distributions, depending on the required irradiation area, working distance and target geometry.

Instead of designing a UV fixture around a generic LED board, the Violet platform combines the LED source, optics, thermal and mechanical housing and driver electronics into a coordinated system. The result is a practical starting point for applications where UV wavelength, irradiance, beam geometry and dose must be engineered rather than simply approximated. The system can be purchased at different levels of integration: from the bare LED strip and optic through to a complete assembled UV irradiation fixture.

A Modular Platform Built Around a 281 mm UV LED Strip

Every Violet strip uses the same basic mechanical platform:

Because the LED positions and optic geometry are defined, we can use the LED radiant output, the selected optic and the working distance as inputs when calculating the expected irradiation pattern at the target surface. This is particularly useful when designing equipment where a specific UV dose or irradiation area is required.

LEDiL VIOLET-12X1 Optics for the Violet UV Strip

The 12 LEDs of the strip sit exactly under the 12 lens elements of the LEDiL VIOLET-12X1 optics, which are made of UV-rated materials that stay transparent and do not yellow under UV-B and UV-C radiation, unlike standard PMMA lenses. Choose the beam that matches the irradiation area and working distance:

The optics are designed and simulated for this LED footprint, and photometric data is available, so the irradiance on the target can be calculated before the first prototype is built.

Installation, Operation and Safety

• Cooling: always mount the strip on an adequate heat sink or the compatible Violet housing and make sure the Tc point stays below +65°C. UV LEDs are considerably more sensitive to temperature than white LEDs: their radiant output and lifetime fall as the junction temperature rises, so the thermal design must be verified in the final application.
• LED driver: operate the strip with a constant current LED driver set to 1050 mA (maximum 1500 mA); never connect it directly to a constant voltage supply. Connect it only according to the marked terminals.
• Optical radiation safety: the strip emits intense UV-C radiation and is classified in risk group RG3 (EN 62471), the highest risk group. Never look into the operating strip and protect skin and eyes from direct and reflected radiation. The complete product must provide the shielding, access control, interlocks, warning labels and procedures required for the wavelength and application, and the national regulations on artificial optical radiation at the workplace must be observed.
• Materials: UV radiation degrades many plastics; use only UV-resistant materials and optics in the irradiation path, such as the LEDiL VIOLET-12X1 optics.
• Professional use: the strip is a component for integration by qualified personnel into professional and industrial equipment.
