PaperFlex is an LED light source unlike any other: Osram LEDs mounted directly on paper only 0.75 mm thick, produced in Germany in a roll-to-roll process with plasma direct metallization, a technology that makes even paper conductive and solderable. The result is a light, flexible LED sheet, 35 cm wide, with rows of 7 LEDs every 5 cm, that turns large surfaces into evenly glowing light surfaces: backlit ceilings and walls, light boxes, signs and billboards, curved shapes, and even walls that light up from behind normal wallpaper.
This article is a single row of PaperFlex: a strip of LED paper 5 cm long and 35 cm wide with 7 Osram LEDs, the smallest unit of the system. Order the number of rows you need: they are delivered as one continuous piece, for example 100 rows as a 5 m long, 35 cm wide roll, up to a maximum of 497 rows (24.85 m). One row delivers 55 lm at 0.36 W.
With a luminous density of 2900 lm per square meter at only 21 W per m², warm white 2700K light with a color rendering index of 80 and binning to a 3-step MacAdam ellipse, PaperFlex creates soft, cozy and uniform light. It operates at 24 V constant voltage, can be cut with scissors after every row and is dimmable with a PWM dimmer or a Casambi controller.

Applications of the PaperFlex1080 LED Paper
As a thin, flexible light surface, PaperFlex is designed for the following main applications:
- Billboards and luminous ceilings: Rolled out behind a translucent surface, PaperFlex lights large billboards, light boxes and luminous ceilings evenly with very few components and connections. See our LED modules for luminous ceilings.
- Signage: The thin paper sheet fits into flat signs and display boxes and can be cut to the shape of the panel, row by row. For a uniform result, match the distance to the cover to the LED spacing. - Backlighting and light wallpaper: Behind stretch ceilings, acrylic, onyx, textiles or printed graphics, PaperFlex creates evenly lit walls and ceilings, also with curved shapes. Installing PaperFlex as Light Wallpaper
- Connect and test the PaperFlex before wallpapering.
- Glue it to the wall with normal wallpaper paste, working carefully: avoid strong pressure on the LEDs and do not kink the paper.
- Cover it with a white wallpaper and let everything dry for at least 48 hours before switching it on.
- PaperFlex has no IP protection, so it is not suitable for damp rooms such as bathrooms.

Installation and Operation
- Cutting: cut the PaperFlex with scissors after any row, on the cutting marks; one row of 5 x 35 cm is the smallest unit.
- Connection: press eyelets into the contact points with eyelet pliers and solder the plus and minus wires (0.5 mm²) to the eyelets. Never solder directly on the paper. Alternatively, use our ring cable (SKU 37699) with screws.
- Power supply: use a stabilized 24 V DC constant voltage LED driver with short-circuit, overload and overtemperature protection, sized for the connected length: 0.36 W per row, for example 14.4 W for 2 m. Feed the PaperFlex at least every 2.5 m to keep the brightness uniform.
- Handling: avoid kinking and strong pressure on the LEDs, observe standard ESD precautions, keep it away from aggressive chemicals, and store and operate it at 10% to 60% relative humidity.
- Safety: installation must comply with all applicable electrical and safety standards and should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
