Coloured extension of the Nichia E17 series

The NCSRE17AT is a red SMD LED from Nichia, who have added coloured versions to their popular E17 series. The NCSRE17AT also comes in the proven chip scale package. This means that the LED has virtually no housing. The LED chip occupies almost the entire surface of the LED. Above this is only a thin layer of phosphorus. Flip chip technology also ensures that the LED chip is directly connected to the contacts, which in turn leads to improved heat dissipation.

In contrast to monochromatic colour LEDs, which achieve their respective light colour through a certain semiconductor material, the coloured versions of the E17 series are based on phosphor conversion. The basis is a blue LED chip which emits the desired light colour through a special phosphor layer. Since the chips used have the same electrical properties, the coloured E17 LEDs are perfectly suited for applications with a wide colour spectrum.
