The latest innovation in LED development is called the Optisolis technology from Nichia. This full-spectrum LED from world market leader Nichia is capable of generating a light spectrum that comes closest to that of the sun. This is achieved by a revolutionary new phosphor technology and a special blue LED chip. The spectrum of the 420nm chip contains almost no UV emissions and in combination with the phosphor achieves a CRI value of almost 100.
Due to its very low UV emissions, the Optisolis LED is particularly suitable for the use in museums and art galleries where the highest possible CRI value is preferred, but where UV radiation would damage the precious works of art. Another application is Human Centric Lighting - a special type of lighting that adapts to the human inner clock and thus to the biorhythm. In addition, Optisolis can be used wherever an extremely high CRI is required, e.g. in operating theatres in hospitals.
